Items and Inventory Objects

Introduction

Items and Inventory are the third class of objects that can be imported into APS for added depth, power and flexibility and is just as crucial to having an accurate and reliable system for production scheduling. Where the Resource objects deal with the Finite Capacity aspect of production scheduling, the Items and Inventory objects are invariably linked with the Material Availability side of scheduling and having an accurate and visible Inventory will be the driving factor for many major business decisions.

Key Concepts

Items and Inventory will affect the following areas in APS:

  1. Purchasing
  2. Raw and Intermediate Material Constraints
