Schedule Updates

Introduction

When updating the Schedule, it is important to distinguish between updating the information flowing from an external system into APS and updating information already residing in APS. The former keeps the schedule data timely and accurate. The data imported depends on the settings that are specified in the Data mapping Wizard. Errors encountered are displayed on the client computer that started the import but there is also a ServiceLog.txt file on the server that can be checked if necessary. You can continue to work during imports, though access to the scheduling engine (moving Jobs, accessing the Job view, etc.) may be denied.

Updating the data already existing in APS can be accomplished in one of two ways:

  1. Via Refresh of the Planning Data: As the import is triggered, depending ont he external systems integrated with APS, reported quantities and hours may be tracked in another system and imported into APS.
  2. Manually: Activity Progress can be updated via either the Activity Scheduling Grid accessed from the Gantt, or by right-clicking on the Activity on the Gantt itself.
