Executives

Introduction

Executives look to provide vision, leadership, and to make decisions for the good of the business. Different executives may manage different aspects of the business, but the idea remains the same: they are the leaders within their own purview. High-level decisions about policy and strategy are determined by the executives and carried out by the rest of the business’s operations.

Key Concepts

The daily concerns of an executive officer of a manufacturer are going to be quite different from that of the Capacity Planners and Schedulers, for example.  That isn’t to say that the executives of a company operate in a completely hands off manner, but as their requirements are different, APS provides the type of information that they would find relevant from a business standpoint.

An executive may not be directing the day to day operations of the plant, but often will provide the business strategy that directly influences and affects the jobs of the people who do manage the shop floor. As such, the executive may be far more concerned with the reporting features and KPI tracking than with the daily minutia of what work orders are running and when.
